Beauty Wishlist

May starts tomorrow. The sun is making its way (occasionally) out from the clouds and thoughts of summer and how shit and pasty everyone looks are currently in the air. I crave, like I'm sure many others do, glowing, golden skin at this time of year. Note that I'm writing this pale as a ghost, not so much glowing as sweating and snotty from my current illness. What a lovely image for you. And yes, this post has taken way too long to write as I keep needing 'rests' after every couple of words. Let's keep it short and sweet then. Basically these are a few things I've been lusting after recently. Anything to help me look like I haven't just come back to life after being pulled out from the underworld. Hercules reference...anyone?

1. Pixi Glow Tonic -£18
Back a few months ago, years even, this was all beauty bloggers and vloggers talked about. It dropped off the radar a little and the packaging has had a revamp but it still promises to give that much sought after glow. For those that haven't heard of it before it's a liquid exfoliator, getting rid of those pesky dead skin cells but without the harshness (or annoyance) of a facial scrub. Oh and Zoella included it in a favourites video recently so of course it is very firmly back on everyone's radar.

2. Real Techniques Bold Metals Flat Contour Brush - £22
I'm not 100% sure but I think this might be the most popular brush in the Real Techniques Bold Metals range because it seems to be constantly sold out. I wouldn't be surprised due to how crazy everybody is about contouring these days. It seems like the perfect size to get right under that cheekbone. Oh and it helps that it's rose gold. Pretty.

3. Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster - £19
Starting to think that I would buy anything with the word glow in the name. There was alot of fuss about this last year. Apparently a few drops in your regular moisturiser will leave you looking like a golden goddess. I want in.

4. Anastasia Brow Wiz -£15.50
Yeah OK I'm very late to the party not trying this yet but £15 for an eyebrow pencil when I know there are alternatives puts me off. I've tried what is supposedly the Sleek dupe for this and it was pretty good but I do still want to see what all the hype is about with the Anastasia Brow Wiz.

5. Model's Own Colour Chrome Nail Polish in Rose - £5
Because why not match your nail colour to your new make-up brush?

Have you tried any of these before? Let me know what you think in the comments.

Current Wishlist | Fashion

It's official - the weather is changing. Away with the roll necks and extra thick socks, it's finally acceptable to wear sunglasses outside without looking like a dickhead. Ok, so I'm not quite ready to release my pasty legs from their denim comfort and my toes are still staying firmly covered but it's time to start looking towards more weather-appropriate clothing. Saying this, even though spring is now firmly on the cards, my current wishlist isn't exactly full of the pretty pastels and brights you might expect. I don't know why, I guess it's just because they are easier to wear, but I'm still gravitating towards the monochrome and neutral tones. I'm not quite ready for the neons yet but here's a few things I have been lusting over recently..

I blame Beautycrush's Sammi for this one - though she obviously looks way cooler than I would in it. Missguided have recently put up a mustard version too - I want both.

For the majority of spring/summer you'll see me in a some form of white tee and jeans - I need to add this one to my collection.

Possible birthday night out dress? Hmm..

An alternative to the roshe runs every one has at the moment. Also if you fit in to the junior size they're a bargin. Yay for childlike proportions!

The ultimate 'jeans and heels', drinks with the girls top.

Ooo shiny.

What have you been loving recently?

Afternoon Tea at Cathedral 73 | Cardiff

After four days back in work the Easter break already seems like a lifetime ago but I still wanted to share a few photos from the lovely afternoon tea we had on the Saturday at Cathedral 73. It was actually a belated Mother's Day celebration but seeing as my sister was away that day we decided Easter would be just as good a time as any.

If you know Cardiff you'll find Cathedral 73 on Cathedral Road, and if you don't, well, google it. Mum had raved (or dropped hints) about the place after visiting with her friend so we booked the afternoon tea (which costs around £15 each) as a nice little surprise.

As expected there was a wide variety of tea on offer and for the first time I thought to myself 'dammit I wish I liked tea!'. You could say it was wasted on my but those scones weren't going to eat themselves.

The usual afternoon tea suspects were all there with finger sandwiches, scones, mini brownies, mini apple and cinnamon cake, mini raspberry deserts, mini macarons. I swear - things do taste better when they're mini.

The reason we liked it here so much was not only because of the very, very good scones but because there's just a nice calm, clean atmosphere. I think we're over the days where afternoon tea has to be served in a vintage style with a Cath Kidston tablecloth aren't we? Outrageously camp displays of peacock feathers on the other hand...

Loving the Easter decoration too but also can't help thinking what a waste of chocolate egg and rainbow drops!

To conclude - I recommend if you're looking for somewhere different in Cardiff to treat your mother (or any loved one for that matter).

Did you go anywhere nice over the Easter weekend? Let me know in the comments!
